CONGRESSWOMAN CHELLIE PINGREE TO KEYNOTE
ANDOVER COLLEGE GRADUATION CEREMONY
385 to Graduate from Maine Campuses
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, June 3, 2010— Congresswoman Chellie Pingree will address 385 graduates of Andover College’s South Portland and Lewiston campuses, now Kaplan University, at a combined ceremony on Sunday, June 6.
Andover College will be celebrating its final graduating class at 7:00 p.m. at Merrill Auditorium, 20 Myrtle St., Portland.
“Andover College has a long history of preparing students for successful careers and we will continue to serve the state of Maine as Kaplan University,” said Christopher Quinn, president of the South Portland and Lewiston campuses. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact our graduates will have on the Greater Portland and Lewiston communities.”
The Maine-based schools will recognize students for earning associate degrees and certificates in fields including allied health, business, criminal justice, education and legal. Upon graduating, students may be eligible for entry-level positions in their field of study. According to data from the Maine Department of Labor, medical assistant positions are expected to increase by 34 percent between 2006 and 2016.
The Andover College campuses became Kaplan University campuses on May 26, 2010.
Kaplan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
