University’s Cedar Falls Campus Launches Bachelor’s Degree Program in Accounting
Program Expands Campus’s Business Offerings
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, May 13, 2010— The Kaplan University Cedar Falls campus is now enrolling students for its new bachelor’s degree program in accounting.
The 36-month program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits to pursue a wide variety of entry-level positions in the accounting and auditing fields, including those available in public or private organizations, such as accounting firms, corporate accounting or tax departments, not-for-profit organizations, large and small businesses, and governmental agencies. The program’s blended-learning environment combines online and campus-based classroom instruction.
“There is a growing demand for accountants within our local community,” said Gwen Bramlet-Hecker, president of Kaplan University’s Cedar Falls campus. “To meet this demand, we are expanding our course offerings and preparing more students to enter the workforce.”
According to the Occupational Projections, a report by the Iowa Department of Workforce Development, Research and Analysis Division, accounting positions are expected to increase by 19 percent between 2006 and 2016.
The accounting program emphasizes self-discipline and ethical standards. Students will have the opportunity to learn bookkeeping, tax preparation and train on the software applications most commonly used in the accounting industry.
The new degree program expands the Cedar Falls campus’s business offerings. Current offerings include associate degrees in accounting and business administration at the campus and an online master’s degree program in business administration.
Kaplan University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
